Who are you?
My name is Wasim Arslan, I am from Syria, I now live in Amsterdam. I studied business management, and worked as a sales manager in our clothes factory.
What is your art?
After I came to the Netherlands I took up singing again, because music is my passion. In Syria we had our own band, we used to perform all kind of music: Syrian songs, classical Arab songs, fusion flamenco etc.
What do you think about Amsterdam’s fabric of society?
My friends and I have had a great opportunity here, and started our own company, DAFF Project. It’s a space for musicians and singers from East and West to meet and jam together. We also organise events, and offer Syrian vegetariant dishes. All the ingredients for a great party, wherever you come from.
What is the message of your performance for Fabric of Society?
Our message is that music is a common language which can unite people from all over the world. So is good food, by the way.
